This is what stands on the ground at the Apollo 17 site. Mostly, it is where the orbiter photographed it.

• Lunar module descent stage: the base of the lander, the stage that stayed on the Moon. The game starts beside it.
• US flag: about 13 m from the lander. It hangs still, because there is no wind.
• Lunar Roving Vehicle: about 160 m east, where the crew parked it.
• ALSEP science station: about 180 m west, the experiments the crew left running.
• Boulders: scattered over the valley floor.
• Observation tower: a 9 m lattice tower added for the game.

The lander can also play music through a speaker (Settings → Sound). The sound gets quieter with distance.

Nothing can be picked up in Open World yet. Carrying equipment arrives with the first campaign level, see the roadmap.
