Drones
Delta-wing drones with a pusher propeller circle over the valley, some low, some high. Three by default. Set the number in Settings, Game, from none to fifty.
In the game
- Each one flies its own circle, 80 to 500 m wide, 5 to 60 m above the ground by default, most of them low (set the top height in Settings, Game, from 10 to 300 m), at 90 km/h by default. Drone speed in Settings, Game goes from 20 to 200 km/h. The circles follow you across the valley.
- You hear each engine as a two-stroke buzz, each at its own pitch. The sound arrives late from far away, at the speed of sound in air, and its pitch drops as a drone passes.
- Four hits bring one down, and you never know how. Either the warhead goes off at once, in the air, or the engine stops, the drone falls along a lunar arc and explodes when it hits the ground, throwing up regolith. A new one takes its place after 20 seconds.
- With no air, there is no fireball or smoke: a flash that lights up the ground around it, then glowing fragments flying apart on clean arcs. A blast on the ground close to you shakes you through the soil, a moment after the flash.
- They do not attack.
The model
- Span 2.5 m, length 3.5 m. A two-blade pusher propeller behind the tail.
- 354 triangles. Seams, hatches, antennas and the nose band are painted into the texture and the surface map, not built from polygons, so dozens can fly at once.
- One material, one 512 px texture set, 51 KB in total.
